Send Email (SMTP) output giving “?” signs

Symptom #

The output from a Send Email (SMTP) step contains question marks (?) signs in place of certain characters, for example, currency symbols (£).

Cause #

The email contains characters that are being incorrectly interpreted.

Resolution #

You must declare the character set (charset) that BPA Platform references:

1. Upgrade to the latest version of BPA Platform.
2. Recreate your Send Email (SMTP) steps.
