System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out

Symptom #

At task runtime, the SAP Business One Connector returns the following error in the Response Xml:

Timeout Error System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out

Cause 1 #

The SAP DI server service has not started, or the service is running but not responding to requests.

Solution 1 #

Restart the SAP DI server service.

Note: After restarting the SAP DI server service, the connector may report back SAP error code 100000007 which means the license is fully used.

This is because the SAP license server has not relinquished the previous DI server license. Normally waiting a few minutes and/or restarting the SAP DI server service again resolves it. If not, then a restart of the licensing server should resolve it.

Cause 2 #

The Connection Configuration parameters are incorrect.

Solution 2 #

Check the Connection Configuration parameters as follows:

  • The Database Server Name is set to a server name or IP address. Do not enter (local) or a period (.) Also include the Instance name if used.
  • The Database Type is set correctly.
  • The License Server Name with port number is used e.g. localhost: 30000 or TestPC: 30000
  • Database Username and Password are set and are correct.
