The following describes the basic configuration required to allow you to log into BPA Platform for further configuration or to build a basic task — all standard tools are available apart from the Event tools and those that have prerequisites from the ConfiguratorClosed You use the Configurator to install third-party software that may be required by available tools. Connection to required agents are also configured here. Note that you can only launch the Configurator if logged into the machine with Administrator rights..

Tip: If you have closed the Installation Console rather than clicking Launch, you can launch the Configurator by either:

  • Clicking Configurator from the Start menu (in the BPA Platform 2024 program group)
  • Re-launching the Installation Console and selecting Configure or Ready for the Server & Client feature

Setting Up the BPA Platform Store — Wizard

Configuring the Server

During initialisation, the Configurator checks the operating system meets the Client (see BPA Platform Client Prerequisites) and Server's prerequisites (see BPA Platform Server Prerequisites). If not, an error is displayed.

The Configurator opens to Server > Store > Configuration.

Configurator - Store Configuration

Click the image to view full size.

Select Change store configuration, then choose either:

Connect to / Create a new Microsoft SQL Server Store — The store is held in a Microsoft SQL Server database, either locally or remotely
Note: If an Azure SQL Database is to be used, then this must have been created separately before it can be used here. This is to ensure that the user maintains control over the initial database creation and configuration.
Connect to / Create a new internal store — The store is held in a proprietary database, on the same computer as the BPA Platform server
