Ethical Manufacturer and Retailer Automates Sales Orders From Shopify and Amazon to SYSPRO

BPA Platform enables ATTITUDE to eliminate manual processing of B2C and EDI orders

Codeless Platforms today revealed that ATTITUDE, a Canadian company based in Montreal that develops natural personal care and household products, has automated the processing of B2C and EDI sales orders from Shopify and Amazon to SYSPRO using BPA Platform.

As a successful manufacturer and retailer, ATTITUDE receives a vast amount of sales orders from numerous channels, whether this is its own B2C website built on Shopify or via Amazon, one of its largest B2B sales channels. Manually inputting orders into SYSPRO from all of these sales channels obviously put the business under a lot of strain and it was therefore looking to automate this process.

“Every invoice we received from a customer meant we had to manually input it into SYSPRO, which not only takes a lot of time, but also increases the risk of mistakes. It would take five people to type in the orders every Monday morning. We therefore realised it was mandatory for us to implement some sort of automation because we relied on so many people to input our orders and to invoice everything,” explained Nicolas Wendling, Director of Operations, ATTITUDE.

“As a result, we decided to look at automating a number of business processes within our EDI system to be able to make the connection between our customers and SYSPRO. We also wanted to automate the download of transactions from Shopify into SYSPRO on a daily basis.”

Having discussed its requirements with its IT partner, ATTITUDE decided to deploy BPA Platform to provide the integration and automation between SYSPRO, its EDI system and Amazon.

“Our IT partner used BPA Platform as the solution to automatically receive our EDI messages from Amazon and then purge them into SYSPRO. They also added a couple of rules specific to our business, to split the orders in the way we wanted. BPA Platform now automates all of the EDI messages from Amazon including the creation of new sales orders, shipments, advanced shipping notifications, and invoices,” explained Nicolas Wendling.

“As Amazon is one of our main customers, the automation was absolutely necessary. As you can expect, we receive a lot of online orders with Amazon, and therefore we are now in a position to actually receive those orders in our system without manually typing them in. With BPA Platform installed we now have thousands of lines that are all directly imported into SYSPRO. It takes an hour and half every morning and we don’t have to do anything. So that’s made a huge difference.”

“Along with our B2B website, we also have a huge B2C website built on Shopify. We are using BPA Platform to connect Shopify with SYSPRO, and to automatically download invoices and create sales orders directly into SYSPRO on a daily basis. We need to see and register how many sales we make it each state, whether this is in Arizona, Texas or wherever, so automating this task helps us immensely.”

As well as improving its sales order processing, deploying BPA Platform has also helped ATTITUDE improve its fulfilment processes to Amazon by automating advanced shipping notices.

“Amazon is an interesting business as the expectation for logistics is very high. To a certain extent, it is setting what I believe will be the standard for logistics in ten years’ time. When you send them orders, they have gates that scan every box they receive to connect it to your business. The scan recognises the barcode and then links it with the purchase order,” said Nicolas Wendling.

“For example, we will put a barcode on a palette containing 50 boxes. We will then send an advanced shipping notice (ASN) via EDI with all the data in it. That barcode is then scanned at their reception and automatically entered into their system. That would be impossible without EDI technology and automation, because there is so much information. However, if for any reason that doesn’t work, they charge you between $5-$10 per box, as somebody has to look at the box, open it, and check what is in it. Automation therefore helps minimise any errors.”
